Here at eDEN Garden rooms, we pride ourselves on our flexible tailor-made approach to garden room design, and if ever there is an obstacle to tackle, we strive to find a way to overcome it!

This beautiful garden studio in Wimbledon, London enjoys a wonderful position, surrounded by leafy trees and plants at the bottom of our client’s large garden. Although trees can add to the aesthetics of a garden room, beautifully complementing our garden studios with cedar cladding, when it comes to foundations, they can sometimes cause a little bother.

Our usual approach for foundations for a garden room are screw piles. The main reason for this is that they’re easy to bring on to site (as no digger is required), they’re ecologically friendly as they don’t require concrete and are less invasive to the surrounding ecosystem, and they’re strong, sturdy and a great practical base for building a high-quality timber garden room. However, with the complications of tree roots, for this project we had to be flexible in our approach, so instead installed a concrete slab for the garden room foundations. Although we have our preferred processes, we always adapt where possible to best suit the garden and the client’s project.

We were recommended to this client by their garden landscaper who was already working on the garden plans, and we were first on site to build this lovely garden office before the rest of the garden landscaping began. It’s always great to be a recommended garden room supplier from architects, landscape gardeners and other trades-people we work alongside, and this particular supplier has worked with us on several occasions and recommended our services to his client without hesitation.
